Red Rose Wallpaper

Red Rose Wallpaper Biography

The Sympathie rose is one of those bright reds that can really define a garden. They can be a little tricky to handle though.

Its been around for good number of years, having been released by Kordes back in 1964. It has the cold weather hardiness of the Kordes but is a little weak against diseases.

The biggest draw to this is beautiful red large blooms. They are very big, up to 6 inches at times. They do tend to bloom a little later in the season, around June. They repeat throughout the summer until about September or so. It has lengthy canes that make it a great climber, especially on walls and fences or trellises. Another great feature is a very strong scent. Its a little on the thorny side so its not the best for a cut flower arrangement. The initial bloom can be spectacular, but it needs a little help with pruning and watering to continue the rest of the success through the rest of the repeated blooms.

Its a tough rose for a new gardener to handle. It can be very susceptible to diseases and pests, which is somewhat surprising for a Kordes breed. It also tends to be quite thorny, so it can be tough to prune and train. It does fairly well in colder weather, so if you follow a strict schedule to watch out for issues, you'll probably be OK. They are also strong growers as well. It will easily get up to 10 feet tall, with some specimens getting up to twelve feet. so leave plenty of room for this one!
